about to buy a 2004 4runner 4x4 v6 question

I am about to buy a 2004 4runner 4x4 v6 with 48k miles. the car is in good condition exterior and good condition interior. I am getting this at a toyota dealership in daly city, CA. they are giving me new brakes, tires, oil change, tranny oil change, and cleaning the car and whatever else they need to do during their inspection. this comes with 7 years and 100k miles warranty. I brought the price down to $20500 with tax and license out the door.
Am i over paying or is this a good price?

overpaying. I got my new 07 v8 for 26k
 
Sounds too high. is it a limited?

I bought my '04 ltd 4wd V6 with 60k miles in Oct-07 (before SUV values tanked when gas prices shot up in '08) for $23k including tax. And the vehicle is a CPO so I get the 7y/100k warranty. I had to get new tires for about $1k (Michelin LTX at2) and I do my own oil changes. It's at 90k now and runs great.

Did you check cars.com or edmunds.com for comps? If I were you, I'd ask what tires the dealer is replacing with as I'd imagine he'd give you the cheapest they have. I'd rather negotiate the vehicle price as-is (without replacing anything) as what they usually replace is either overpriced and/or cheapest parts so I'd be paying a premium for those replacements than having it done either myself or an independent mechanic. But that's just me. He's probably charging you for the extended warranty.

I think your over paying - check out autotrader - you can get the same set up for 15? Shit I'll sell you mine for 15 cash no warranty but it's altready got a lift and is tricked out and less than 50k on the clock.
 
what price range is a good deal for this car?
i have been shopping on craigslist and edmunds.
craigslist the cheapest i see is 16400 no tax license for a 2004 60k miles 2x4 gray
edmunds they are all around 18-22k no tax and license.

im getting this with 48k miles 4x4 which is usually more expensive for 20500k out the door.

you guys are right it does feel overpriced but it doesnt look like i can find a better deal unless i just go with the 2x4 models.

my area is 94080 is you look on edmunds.

If your father purchased in the 2007 year, unless your father is directly in the Toyota Motor Corporation and/or has connections that I do not have, I highly doubt, in fact, I'm 99% certain that your father did not pay 26K for a new 2007 V8 Sport Edition for you.

I have the same vehicle and I paid dealer invoice, and I have connections to the factory and it was 'quite a few dollars' higher than 26K.
 
Just for comparisons sake I got a certified 2006 with 27k out the door earlier this year for about 21k in a comparable market to the one you are in, and I think that was overpriced (I had no choice though - needed a truck there and then).
the added bits you are getting are nice enough, but new brake pads and oil don't cost the dealership very much. What sort of tires are they throwing in?
 
wow sounds like the car is way over priced. according to the last two post i should pay only 16k to 17k for the whole car.
 
i think its pretty high too. i just got my 06 4runner sport v6 4x4 with 30,000 miles about 3 months ago for 22,000 out the door.
 
You can always get a better deal if you spend more time searching. I just paid slightly over half that price for my '03 with 52k and a questionable CarFax that I determined wasn't a problem. But I spend all summer searching, and had to accept certain risks.

You should not pay more than 16,000 for that one you posted.


Look at this one.... One Owner Sport Edition..I think is a good choice and I am pretty sure they can bring down the price for you a couple of thousands

It worth the traveling....how much for the ariplane ticket and gas to take it back home?....maybe $600?...

Too high

I paid that price for my certified pre-owned 2004 4runner sr5 4x4 with 21k miles in december of 2006 with a platinum warranty...From a toyota dealership... 3 years later tells me it should be much cheaper .. Hope this helps..
