thanks everyone. i will refuse that offer of 20500 and ask for lower 16k out the door for start. should i settle for 17k out the door.

i bet they wont budge at all.

dont you think location has a big part to do with it?
San francisco Bay area california is known to be expensive compared to other places where i may be hearing of these good deals of 16k out the door for a car like mine?

I am about to buy a 2004 4runner 4x4 v6 with 48k miles. the car is in good condition exterior and good condition interior. I am getting this at a toyota dealership in daly city, CA. they are giving me new brakes, tires, oil change, tranny oil change, and cleaning the car and whatever else they need to do during their inspection. this comes with 7 years and 100k miles warranty. I brought the price down to $20500 with tax and license out the door.
Am i over paying or is this a good price?

IMHO. You always overpaying when you go to dealer. Price sounds a little high. Car will have new (or close to new) brakes if it is certified. The same for tires. Do not let them to fool you. Fluids and oil change - $200 at the same dealer. You make the math)))

I bought my 03 sport v6 with 50K from dealers auction as is in 07 for $19000 CAD. Was in brand new condition. Paid $83 to certify (tech was surprised with brakes - 80% left) and $35 for e-test. That was it.

It may not be snowing in southern Cali, but winter raises 4x4 demand and prices everywhere, and prices in Cali are higher than in Nebraska. Dealers have access to networks and can easily ship a truck to where it gets a few thousand more $. The wonderful prices being thrown in here are best case, best time of year, lucky find, etc. Shopping around is the best way to assure yourself you're getting a good deal. Make sure you check regional deals on cars.com, autotrader, craigslist (searchtempest.com), eBay, etc.
