About to buy an '05 Limited, but...

I'm close to picking up an '05 Limited with 110k miles but, on the test drive I noticed that

- 1) There is an amber light on.. on my '04 there is the 'MAINT' light which can be reset, but on this '05 it's in the spot where the 'MAINT' light would be on the '04..

--- Question: Could this be a serious issue? Or is it just the new version of the 'MAINT' light?

- 2) Testing the transmission (shifting from P -> D -> R -> P a few times) I could hear something creak for a second as the transmission shifted.. After driving a few miles and the engine warm, the creak almost disappeared during the test...

--- Question: Is this creak a serious issue? Or something that can be fixed with a little bit of lubrication..

1) What does the amber light look like? IIRC the MAINT light still says MAINT on all 4th gens. The only other amber dash lights I know of that it might be are the CEL, the tire pressure light, VSC, TRAC, etc.

2)Was the creak coming from the transmission or from somewhere else. I know sometimes when i first start up mine and shift into R or D with the brake pedal depressed, the brakes will make a kind of creak sound as the transmission applies power to the wheels.

Yes, all 4th gens have the MAINT light. Amber lights could also be TPMS, ABS.... It all depends on what it is, most are self explanatory though.

1) The odd thing is the light didn't have any letters.. I'll have to have the seller send me a picture of it..

2) I of course have the breaks pressed while shifting and the breaks on this one do need to be replaced, so sounds like problem solved there..

Sounds like the TPM system. Probably needs air in the spare.

When I bought mine a few weeks ago, there was a light on... and that was exactly the cause.... and fix. Added some air to the spare and the light went out.
