about to buy lift kit. got some questions

okay so my suspension is SHOT. im thinkin on buying

was wondering on if im gonna need anything else with this, such as upper and lower control arms. or is this lift even good.

From what I've read, it's a pretty good lift kit. Has everything you'll need except the UCAs. At 3" and up, you should consider getting the UCAs, it helps ensure you can get the proper alignment once the lift is installed, otherwise you can have issues. If you've got the funds, then I'd definitely get it that way you aren't out spending more paying for a second alignment once you get them down the road and are out more money.
Plus, I believe if you get them when you order the lift, they're slightly discounted.

You Dont need UCA For this lift.... If you Want to Spend the money then Do So , But you dont NEED Them.As Above post Stated If you are going to get them do it now and you will never look back .

It is a good kit. The Bilsteins ride great, the adjust ability of the front coilovers is good to have (you can dial in the exact lift you want) and the rear coils are nice too.

Very nice kit......I got the Light Racing UCA's when I did mine (but got them on sale from Light Racing for $250). No complaints with it!

I have had 3 different OME rear coil setups. They are great coils. On my front I started with just coils on Bilstein shocks. In hindsight I wish I saved a little more and went with the adjustable coilovers. You can dial in the exact lift you want. I have not had OME coils in front nor OME their shocks. I have had Bilsteins and love them.

To save some money you can go with Front adjustable coil over kit with Bilstein 5100's - Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits: FJ Cruiser Lift Kits, Tacoma Lift Kits, Tundra Lift Kits, 4 Runner Lift Kits, Sequoia Lift Kits, Toyota Truck Lift Kits and save $200. The install will be more involved since you will need to disassemble your front shock/coil combo and reuse some parts. You will also need spring compressors which if you haven't done, can be a pain.

As far as the install. If you get the first kit that you posted, the install isn't bad. You will want a torque wrench, basic wrenches/ratchets, jack and jackstands.

There are a few tricks. The big one is, loosen all of the rear control arm bolts. This allows the suspension to droop freely. Re-torque everything once the vehicle is back on the ground. In front, loosen the upper control arm bolt to allow it to move freely too, re-torque once back on the ground.

I noticed you wanted to go with the ToyTec kit. shoot an email to [email protected] for pricing. I'm not trying to jack your thread here since I'm also in the market for a lift. I just got an email saying they sell the old style Daystar spacer lift. I'm not ready for the big lifts just yet. I'll settle for a spacer lift for now. I wanted to post about a company that might be able to get you your lift at a good price.

We put this kit on our FJ along with the LR UCA's. This is an excellent lift. Changing the UCA allowed the alignment to be in spec. The factory UCA may not allow your caster to be aligned to spec. This is not a real issue regarding tire wear or steering but you will see a little float in the steering.

I did the Daystar lift on my 4Runner because I want to keep XREAS system. I have not changed the UCA. When XREAS needs to be replaced I plan on installing this kit along with the LR UCA's
