As the title states I'm looking for my first 4 Runner. If you don't want any back ground skip the first paragraph.
I currently have a 2011 Civic SI that I bought new but I want to put a dent in my student loans so I'm going to sell the SI. I've always loved the 4 Runner's (particularly 3rd gen) after me and some friends took one on a skiing trip several years ago and it performed like a champ in the snow.
So... I'm currently looking at two 3rd gens. One is a 99 with 189k and the other is a 2001 with 171K miles. The price difference is 1K more for the 2001 and I'm debating if it's worth it. I haven't seen the cars in person yet but I will soon. From the pics it seems the 99 may have been better cared for but I've yet to verify.
My questions are is there anything I should be particularly looking for in either vehicle. Also, the money side of me says I should take the off white 2001due to its better value. The extra 1K isn't an issue finacially, but I like the 98 better as it's black and looks cleaner lol. Lastly, the concessions I've gotten is the mileage isn't a huge concern but I'd like some thoughts on that as well although both have some bumper rust, but, I think I can clean that up.
Both are SR5 vehicles although the 2001 has leather. I actually prefer not to have leather but it's not a big deal regardless.
Any thoughts...?
