ABS Accumulator Assembly replacement 2008 4Runner

T4R Friends,

I have a 2008 4Runner 4x4 SR5 V6 and I believe that my ABS Accumulator Assembly is busted and I'd like to get some information on how difficult it is to replace.

The Accumulator was making grinding noises and it made a sound that sounded like a pop and then my brake, VSC, and ABS lights came on and there is a constant loud warning tone when the truck is running. The brakes work, but not very well. If someone were to pull out in front of me and stop, I'd surely hit them.

Could it be as simple as replacing this part? What other components should I be concerned about?

Of course I am not driving the truck at this time.

The part is found here:

2008 Toyota 4Runner Brake ABS Components parts - OEM Toyota Parts

#19 in the diagram.

I'm not anything near a mechanic but there appears to be a single bolt in the top that holds the part on. This is part of the braking system so I am unsure if I will need to bleed the brakes or do anything else special.

I'd gladly pay a shop to do this, however I'm having difficulty finding a place that will install the part if I buy it and they are asking an insane amount of money for the part.

I've ordered the Haynes manual at Toyota 4Runner Repair Manual covering all models from 2003 thru 2009, perhaps it will have the information I need.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Unfortunately you probably need #1 in the diagram, or at least 13 or 2. I think it's around $2000.
