ABS flutter

Hey, I'm a new user here. Hoping I can get some insight on an issue. I bought '98 4Runner SR5 4WD in April '07. I bought it from a private owner who purchased it new. He kept meticulous care of it; timing belt, brakes, tires, tranny flush, cooling system flush, etc. It had 133k at time of purchase and it's turning around 154k now. (I do a lot of driving) My problem is if I go over a good size bump or dip and sometimes even when just trying to stop really quickly the ABS does seem to activate, but seems to 'jump' and not really allow me to stop. I'm pretty familiar with general maintenance, but unsure what could cause this situation. Any comments would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

Thats normal. I had BF Goodrich tires and going over a rough road would cause ABS to kick in. This seemed to be caused by the tire bouncing. After a new set of tires, this no longer happens.

Thank you. I actually have BF's on it now. They are the All-Terrain T/A KO. Prev owner put about 15k on them, so up to around 30k now. Good tires, but are a little harsh. I do mostly highway driving. Any suggestions for replacements when the time comes? Thanks again!

Good luck on trying to find opinons on all terrain tires. it basically boils down to either great traction with sacrifice to ride and comfort or vice versa. I have heard good things about GoodYear Silent Armor but they are pricey. I got a set of Cooper's and they have great on road and off road traction in wet and dry. They are a tad loud but not annoying. They were a bit hard to balance. But hey I got the hookup. $300 for all 4.
