My VSC and ABS lights came on my 04 SR5 V6 4WD the other day. I assumed that it was related to my oxygen sensors, like normal. I attempted to do a zero point calibration, but couldn't get past the clearing of the calibration. Once I did the 4 quick pulses on the signal line, the ABS light started blinking out a code of 32. I did some searching and figured out that this meant that there was a problem with the left front speed sensor. I ordered another sensor and replaced it this weekend. However, I still can't get the ABS error to clear. I have read some posts that say that it will clear the ABS error on its own once it gets a good signal from the sensor. However, I have a couple of hundred miles on it at this point, and would have thought that if it was going to clear itself, it would have already.
I am out of town on business, so I can't do anything until this weekend, so I am trying to get my ducks in a row ahead of time. Do ABS codes have to be cleared by a diagnostic tool? I have a buddy that has the software and OBD interface that I used to bleed the ABS brake lines that I can borrow, if I can catch him.
Otherwise, after checking continuity in the cable, what other issues might it be? There was a little bit of grease and dirt on the end of the old sensor when I removed it. Do I need to take the axle out of the hub and clean off the reluctor ring?
