ABS light on

My abs light is on and the abs will engage at slow speeds. I have been looking around on this thing and I cant come up with anything. I have found that there are no codes in the system. help please.:help:

How did you find that there are no codes? I *think* there has to be a code if the light is on.

I hooked up to the diag port under the hood and there was nothing in the system

In my toyo exerience, the abs lite on = no abs. Check the connections under the seat and dash related to abs. See the FSM for a schematic. :cowboy:

When you say it will "engage at slow speeds" what exactly is happening? Can you hear it as you're braking, or is it actually braking for you?

My initial thought would be a bad wheel speed sensor. I'm not sure a typical code reader will read the ABS codes like it does OBDII codes.

OBDII port pulls engine codes. So it wouldn't have an ABS code.

Did the diagnostic in the Youtube, making certain of the pins as prescribed, and now everything on the dash is flashing except the ABS.

Any ideas?

I think it may be different pins for the Runner.

The Youtube was for a 98 4Runner which I would think would have matched a 96.

I would think so, too. I did just like the vid and got a code. I used the second link to clear the ABS light. I'm sorry, but you've exhausted my knowledge on the topic. I have no idea what would make the other lights flash.

When you jumpered the connections, did you look at the schematic in the flipped over cap to make sure you got the pins right?
