What causes skid control to trigger ?

Hi
My skid control activates quite often out of nowhere on completely straight and dry surface. The light blinks and I hear the buzzing noise from brake booster.
It is so annoying and undriveable, I had to wire the switch and completely disable it. No check engine or ABS lights.

Can it be one of the speed sensors ? And can it not throw ABS light but still screw up something in skid control ecu ?

TRAC and VSC are all controlled by the abs system. Good thought on the sensors but they also have one more sensor called a yaw sensor. Do a search on how do to a zero point calibration on the yaw sensor here and see if that helps you out.

Is the ABS enabling at the same time or just the TRAC/VSC?

And if you have an '01-'02 and do the zero point let me know if the pin lay out in the obd terminals are the same. All the write-ups I've been able to find have been pre-01 when the port was in the engine bay. None address the procedure with the port under the dash. I assume they're the same layout but want to be SURE before I go jumping random terminals lol


I have a similar issue. VSC/TRAC lights are on, have been on, but don't activate skid control. It will, however, beep incessantly around curves seemingly at random. Will go faster around a tighter curve and nothing, then next slower bend in the road its beepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeep. Feel like its gotta depend on the camber of the turn but since it hasn't diminished drivability at all and I haven't gotten confirmation of the procedure across years, I haven't really bothered to dig in to it

Yes, I've completed yaw rate sensor calibration successfully but couldn't complete deceleration sensor calibration (don't remember at what point I had an error doing it).
My VSC and TRAC lights are not on either (if I don't deactivate them manually). Only the symptoms I've described in the first post. Oh, and sometimes I experience random abs activation as well, mainly when coming to a stop. But it's quite rare and not so annoying.
I think these all are linked together with one reason...

Thats what everyone keeps sending me but thats the pre 01 OBD port thats under the hood. Ive just wanted to confirm either via someone just saying Yes, I've followed this method shown in that post OR have a pin layout to confirm layouts are the same. I know in my head there wouldnt be a reason theyd change the port but I just want to be certain before I go jumping terminals lol

Lots of people bang their heads over and over again. :-( To me is seems the trac and vsc seem to be buggy in the 01 and 02s. Great when they work properly, However, when those systems act up. Get ready to spend some time in the diagnostic mode to get those stable again. Hang in there and keep on it. You get it working properly again.

I had a trailblazer that would activate ABS at every stop, the problem ended up being rust forming under the wheel speed sensor and pushing it out ever so slightly. I don't think I even replaced the sensors, I just removed them, cleaned and reinstalled. I know it's not the same vehicle, but the symptoms seem very similar.
