ABS question/issue

When turning on the key I can hear my ABS motor spin up (also happens when starting the vehicle). ABS system works and the dash light isn't on, I recently swap out the unit and still have the problem.

Research I've done shows that many folks have had weird problems with their ABS system.

That's normal, every car with ABS does it, some are louder than others. It's a system self test, occurs a few moments after the key is turned on in some, others performs the test after the vehicle exceeds a certain speed, usually 5-10 MPH.

You are trying to fix a problem that is not a problem! As stated above, that is what the ABS system does (at least on my 96). I just let it cycle before I crank the starter.

Is this a 2000-2002? If so it maintains a vacuum reservoir that’s electronically filled, you’ll hear it on startup and on the first few stops.
