ABS, VSC Trac, and VSC Off lights are all on

I'm having the exact same issue with a twist. Sometimes when I start the vehicle, all three lights come on and when I attempt to change gear, it won't let me change gear.

I've had the codes scanned, and no codes show up. I was able to get the truck moving by pressing down on the small covered hole that's just ahead of the gear shift.

I've also had my mechanic scan the vehicle for codes and nothing shows. He's doing some research to figure out what is causing this, but I thought I'd ask here as this community is great for resolving issues like this.

Since you have to depress the brake pedal to be able to shift out of park the brake switch on the brake pedal maybe bad and not sending a signal causing you not to be able to shift out of park without using the bypass.

If your brake lights are working I don't know if a new switch will solve your shifting issues...but here's a link to an OEM switch and also a link for 3 choices from Rockauto, but at Rockauto be sure to click on the info button/link and compare the compatable part numbers with the OEM part number because all 4thGen don't use the same switch..

Thanks AuSeeker. Any other thoughts on what could be causing the issue? This morning I had no issues shifting, but when I stopped the vehicle after about 20 mins, shifted into P and then tried to shift to Drive a couple of mins later it wouldn't shift. Two mins later, it shifted without any issues.

Just an FYI, I edited my post above after you replied, I don't think the switches from Rockauto will work, none of the part numbers cross reference to the OEM part number for a 2005, the stoplight switches were change for 2006 and onward and the OEM that fits your's only fit the 2003 to 2005 models.

It's possible that the switch could be going bad and working off and on, otherwise not sure what else could cause the shifting issue without doing a lot of research to see if there's another electrical component that affects the shifting lock, it's possible that there maybe another "brake" switch that only controls the signal to the shift lock but I have never heard of that being the case, it's also possible that the brake light switch has 2 circuits in it, one for the lights and 1 for the shift lock, but I don't know if that's the case.

I would recommend is the next time it will not shift is have someone look to see if the brake light are working at that exact time before you take your foot off the brake, or if you can somehow see the lights coming on such as at night or in a reflection in a windows, etc.

That all being said the OEM switch is really not all the expensive when compared to the ones on Rockauto so replacing it with the OEM wouldn't be all that costly, but also not sure what shipping will add to the price, but just looking at all the local autoparts stores prices they all come in around $25 and up for non-OEM switches.

I'm not too concerned about the price (I'll just get the OEM switch). I'm more concerned about fixing the problem as its very annoying.

I removed the switch and checked with ohm meter, it was giving erratic readings, carefully opened up switch and cleaned the contacts, put a small coating of die-electric grease on contacts, all fixed.
