ABS, VSC, Traction Control Override

This was performed on my 2014 TE

For anyone interested in defeating your ABS and traction control for offroad driving its SUPER easy.

Just like in the Tacoma, we are just going to simulate to the 4WD ECU the locker being engaged. This does not actually engage the locker, nor does it display the locker light.

THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR ON ROAD DRIVING.

The first attachment is the wiring diagram. I have circled the signal wire we will be using. When pin 14 of the 4WD ECU gets a ground to indicate the dif lock is locked up, it will disable all traction controls as you can see in the image titled ABS light.

Youll have to remove the glove box, but after that... find the purple wire on pin 14 and splice in a switched ground.

I havent road tested it yet, but turning the truck off with the ABS override in the ON position is not harmful. This appears to be an identical modification as i have done on my 2014 OR Tacoma.

Restarting the truck with it still on yields the same results with the addition of the dif lock light on and flashing. No other noted effects (No CEL - nor do i expect one)

Great. Just what I was looking for. I guess no reason to think that this is not identical in the TRD Pro model? Where can I check that to just make sure the wire is the same color?

Quoting you here, but this is to anyone.

Would anyone have the main wire loom wiring diagram for the overhead console? Or if that maybe just down to the traction control switch within the overhead?

For anyone without a trail edition: I've used factory plugs to plug into the wheel sensor above the front strut with an inline switch. Also easy to disconnect and remove.

These pics are blurry, can you upload higher resolution ones?
The first photo of the connectors doesn’t seem to show a two-row connector like where you indicate in the second photo, the pin 14 is located.
If you did this mod can you upload a photo pointing out which connector you tapped into and the wire?

It’s the only purple wire on that bigger plug on the 4wd control unit. It is the black box on top of pic.

I didn’t have a factory switch which I am waiting for but I just touched it to a grounded bolt and it turns off abs/ trac. Works perfect. Switch comes in this week with the trd forged wheels

Got the switch in. This mod works like a charm. I hope this helps. Also to confirm. I have turned the vehicle off while abs is off and when I turn it back on it’s still off. No cels. No stored cells confirmed by my Toyota tech buddy after scanning it.

Does this work for 2WD also? Even with the traction control and VSC switched off my 11 trail still gets angry anytime the rear end slides more than maybe 5 degrees. I mean I'm 46 but I still want to do donuts! And 4wd drifts are impossible too. I used to disable ABS on my older tacomas with a 2 pole factory fog light switch because the system made them essentially unstoppable in snow if it engaged but the no donuts is REALLY annoying.

What switch are people using for this one?

Yes it will but problem is the 4x module isn’t in the same place as the 2014-2019(20). There’s a thread somewhere here for your model.
