Absolutely Puzzled

Hi,
I have a 1999 T4R Limited I just bought couple of weeks ago...

Clock was not working...So, I went to local junk yard and picked up a clock from 97......I started to remove the wood looking dash pieces to get to clock, so I can replace it...I found out clock had no harness connected to it...I look everywhere for the clock harness but no luck...Everything looks original, so I don't think anyone went in there with the sole purpose of cutting off the clock harness.
Any idea whats happening here?...

Standard answer #17: Your harness is plugged into the wrong hole in the fascia. For reasons known only to inscrutable Toyota engineers, there is a second useless blind receptacle that accepts the clock harness plug. If memory serves, it's below the clock about a foot and towards the steering wheel. Pull that out and plug it in to your clock. You are not the first, and won't be the last.

I did the same thing while installing my Eclipse 5435...

I KNEW that I plugged everything in, but no clock. Tore it apart again thinking I must have missed a harness to go in the clock plug. Yeah, I felt dumb.

What is that for...?

The one I got from Junkyard, I got it without testing....They told me I can bring it back if it doesn't work...We have a another 2000 4runner limited in the family...So I have a spare clock for either of these T4R

They go for $60-$70 on eBay--but I'd save it for the 2000. They have a very high mortality rate. There is a fix if you are good with a soldering iron.

Do you happen to have any link how to remove gauge cluster as well.? My "D" drive light is out...I would like to change it...
