AC compressor on limited cycling evey 5 seconds

Hello everyone,

I have 55k ob my 2016 limited. I was checking my pullies and I realized that my AC compressor cycling. It's about 55 degree outside. Is this normal operation of the compressor? As far as I could tell, it blows cold air. It keeps coming ON and OFF every 5 seconds or so.

It is normal for the A/C to be used even though the outside temp is low (it is used to dehumidify the air so the windows don't fog up). But to cycle that often is not normal. Could be due to low Freon level. You should have it checked out by a good auto A/C tech.

I had HVAC guy looked into it. He said everything looks ok. He said it might be normal for the car to cycle the compressor during idle when its cold outside. I hate to go to the dealership for nothing. Can you check yours to see if does the same thing?

2018 ORP 55k miles. Mine cycles very frequently too since new. Maybe every 5-10 seconds at idle. It’s actually pretty annoying if the radio isn’t on because I notice it.

I can’t say it does it with the AC off. But when it’s on it absolutely cycles like this.

If you’ve had it checked out, I wouldn’t worry about it. Hopefully this helps you rest a little easier.

If its cold outside you will get a short cycle.

If you have the airflow selector to direct air on the windshield, this will trigger the A/C compressor, even if you don't turn on your air conditioning - the car thinks you want to de-fog your windshield.

That's wht I noticed on my car anyway.
