AC Issue

Sometimes my 95's AC blows cold then other times when I turn it on it blows air that is not very cold. Sometimes it starts out cold, then within a couple of minutes it starts blowing warmer? Could it be low on R134a? Thanks.

In other vehicles i have owned these symptoms you've explained have been indication that the AC needs to be charged aka low on r134.

The cheapest 1st step to finding out is getting a can at autozone that has a gauge on it so you can recharge it and tell for certain. If that doesn't fix the problem, you could have a failing AC Compressor. Simply buying the r134 and recharging it will be a good bet in finding out if it simply needed charged or if its something else. I mean, if you charge it and it fixes it, you are out nothing. If you charge it and the problem persist, you are out 20bucs and know its something more serious- and maybe something more serious you don't care to have repaired

I bought some r134a at autozone and I know it is supposed to fit on the Low side valve, but I can't get it fit on that valve. The "fitting" that is on the bottle of r134 seems to be too big for the Low valve. Anyone have any suggestions on what I need to do? Thanks.

Okay, I went to my mechanic today, and we discovered that it is full of r134, however the expansion valve is messed up. That's why it will blow cold for a little while, then it will get "stuck". Anyone have any experience on replacing expansion valves? Thanks.

the mechanic didnt know? I think my system is due for a charge.... works well at highway speeds but not SO good at reg speeds..
