AC outlet cover removal

I've searched hi and lo....I thought it might be an easy removal but it doesn't seem to want to be pried off...

please help....loll...

I want to add another outlet with a USB

My 2 cents is not to add hard wired USB plugs unless it is the only option. USB is an​ evolving standard. Versions change and so of charging voltages.

If you is it installed the commenly available USB charger that it's out 2.1 volts, now cant fast charge a device the needs 3 volts. Let's say in a year or two devices are charging at 5 or more volts. You now have a useless plug.

You have a universal socket that will take any automotive 12v USB charger. $20 bucks will get you a current charger that will charge anything. In a year or two when it's out dated just upgraded to another one.

you can remove that top tray piece by prying and then using a flexible screw driver to get the screws out or by breaking the tabs, then you can get to the back of that power outlet. if you don't want to pry that top part off you will need to take the entire plastic shroud off

as he said, the "brute force" method is used to remove the TOP tray.

The AC/DC power panel can be removed pretty easily by pushing your fingers in to the crack at the TOP of the panel, then pulling out on the top lip of the panel. This will allow it to lean out towards the rear of the vehicle and you should be able to unplug the AC/DC connectors and pull that whole panel.

I brute forced the top tray prior to removing the panel, so removing the top tray first make it easier to remove the AC/DC panel, but im not 100% certain that its necessary to remove prior to removing the AC/DC panel.

you aint kiddin about the brute force on the top panel...
cheese and rice....it was easy on all 3 sides...but the long side close to the center of the cargo area.....well...ima bout to get the axe...lolll

Cheese and rice for sure. I think I ripped mine out in summer and I was dripping sweat and pissed with the resistance it was giving me and I ended up ripping out the bolt mount points when it finally came free.

Recommend checking out the person who wrote the post on the original brute force method for the exact location of the two fastener points it may help to apply more force on those two areas. I would look it up but I'm on my phone in a browser opened by Gmail. Lol technology.

thanks for the input...with the aid of a flashlight and wearing heavy duty gloves, I yanked that sucker out...first I got all 3 sides loose at the edges...then I grabbed the whole piece...
those 2 screw mounts broke off...
they were totally unnecessary...it would have been nice to be able to just pop it out or in..
