AC smells like vinegar, anyone else?

You might be smelling mold or mildew in your duct work. After running the AC everything is chilled and when you turn off the vehicle any moisture in the air can condense deep in the system. Over time this may be enough for mold to grow. I've noticed this in rental cars in warm climates where the AC is almost always in use.
On my vehicles, after using the AC, I always turn the blower on high and temperature to max for 10 seconds or so to dry it out before shutting down. Never had a moldy smell in any of my vehicles.

Musty smell next day after A/C being running? Some suggest to turn off A/C few minutes before shutting off the engine to help getting moisture out the system. That doesn't work, contrary it actually introduces more H2O from humid non air conditioned atmosphere. Solution is easy and simple - Do Not turn off your A/C at all. Just shut off the ignition. Next morning your air will resume cool and smell free.
