Sorry to revive an old thread, but wondering if anyone has had success in disabling the default recirculation setting when the vehicle is started? I'm referring to the section described on page 282 of the manual:
"When the outside temperature exceeds 75°F (24°C) and the air conditioning system is on, in order to reduce the air conditioning power consumption, the air conditioning system may switch to recirculated air mode automatically. This may also
reduce fuel consumption. Recirculated air mode is selected as a default mode when the engine switch is turned to the “ON” position (vehicles without a smart key system) or the engine switch is turned to IGNITION ON mode (vehicles with a smart key system)."
I currently live in Houston, where the temperature is above 75°F 11 months out of the year. I've been trying to figure out why I've been getting sub 16mpg for the last 6-8 months with a stock height and wheel size TRD Pro. Mpg's dipped about the same time I gave up turning the air recirculation off every time I start the vehicle. Please tell me there is a way I can disable this silly setting

Not at this stage can you rule out this stupid setting.
Older models around 2010 should be able to shut down.
And I am annoyed but there is no such option in my 2016 limited.
In this manual it says it can for older models.
