I finally got around to installing my Scion HU, PIE adaptor, and Adelphia Skyfi2 unit. I used a cheap "Y" RCA to 3.5mm cable and the aceleration noise was very noticable when using the SAT radio only. I went out and bought a MONSTER "Y" cable that is shielded. The noise has dropped noticably but still there. Anyone have a way to get rid of this noise. It's only there when the motor is running. Is it a grounding issue?

it's a delphi skyfi 2... but hehehe...
You have alternator whine....
Which is bad grounding, Shut off the skyfi 2 and see if there is still a whine. If there isn't, it's in the y RCA cable. Instead of using the RCA cable and teh PIE adapter,
Go to the store and get the delphi FM modulator for the XM system.
It should be a little gray box, where the xm antenna from the outside plugs into it, then the gray box has it's own little coaxial antenna that plugs into the skyfi 2 unit. The gray box also has an an antenna adapter, so it plugs into your antenna on your scion headunit. Then you can also get a cigarette adapter with it so you can wire everything up in the back of the headunit.

That was slip with the Adelphia thing. I do tech support and Adelphia is a client so i guess I forgot what I was doing. I bought the PIE adaptor that has to use the Y cables to the XM unit. Logjam Electronics recommended a shielded Y cable and if that doesn't help then to run a ground to one of the outshield shields.Well the shielded cable helps alittle but it's still annoying.
I haven't gotten around to this yet but will let you know how it works.

that sheilded cable doesn't always work, It's usually a ground loop, to prevent that, you run a ground wire from the headunit ground wire to the shielded cable. But the best way to get rid of that annoying noise is via the adapter I showed ya, it's crystal clear, the only downfall.... is that it goes through a radio channel, but I never had a problem with it.

Well the fm modulator that is 29.99 is really clear, doesn't have any issue... I never had a problem and I've installed a ton of them...
Ok, to find the ground wire, you take a Digital Multimeter and you place it on continuity, and you see which wire would show continuity. The other way is to ground it to the headunit chassis, however that also connects to the antenna usually, and that sometimes can cause more ground loops. But you can definitely give it a shot.
