I have a question..

when you go to the dealer to have work done on..

they will call you, give you the quotes/price of the job + your permission before performing work on your car correct? without your permission, they can't perform the work on your car correct?

Yeah, the paperwork you sign should have a couple of boxes down below how you want to deal with it. It would be pretty stupid for a shop to do the work without the consent from the owner. Now a days all they do is put in what they are doing and the computer will have said hours for the job, so you should know what you are looking at cost wise. And if the shop notices anything else that needs to be done they should call you and tell you how much extra.

this is the problem..

I couldn't figure out why my garage wasn't closing and I had an tech came out..

before he mentioned what was wrong with the door,how much the cost was. he went out and started fixing it.. I didn't give him the permission to perform the work. Then, he comes back and charges me for the work..

isn't is suppose to give you an quote/price before I let him have the permission to do the job? then he comes back at me.. saying I called them and that was the permission to perform the work.. (which I think is crap).. so really, I call the dealer and have the apportionment made, that gives them the permission to perform the job? in other words, Dealer can perform an $4k job and ask you to pay for it without your permission to work on the car, I don't think so.

If the person gave me the quote/price before hand.. I wouldn't be ranting.. but the fact is that he didn't give the price quote before fixing it, that what pisses me off.

is not the money problem.. is the principle...
