Adding bass

$1600 seems like a lot to me.

Lets price this out.

$350 - deck
$50 - wiring kit
$175 - front components
$100 - rear speakers
$250 - 4 channel amp
$250 - monoblock sub amp
$150 - single 12" sub
$50 - sub box
$100 - dynamat kit for front doors only
$0 - install yourself

$1475 + tax.

Wow that added up quick and that would get you an Alpine Type-R system.

+$175 for install (cash=no tax)
Already had the sub and enclosure that my Dad had installed in his old Subaru. It's removable so I can haul stuff if necessary.

Got my deck for $200 on eBay.

Sub setup

I'm running 2 kicker 10s in a dual box with a pioneer 800 watt amp. Was a really cheap setup up in the end and they sound amazing.
Mdf partical board (can find at local hardware store) 35$
Self tapping nails - 5$
Liquid nail construction glue - 7$
Subs- 60$ a piece at best buy
Wiring kit - 45$ At walmart or best buy
Amp - 130$ best buy
Head unit - 175$ at best buy
Quick connects for box - 10$ at best buy
Auto fabric - 3$ a yard at walmart ( I got 2 yards)
3m adheasive spray - 5$

With a little time and elbow grease you can have yourself a nice sounding setup. I can send you all the dimensions and walk you through it if you decide to build your own box.
