Does anyone know how to add the factory aux-in to an 07 JBL headunit? Is it possible? Do you have to tap the wiring harness or is it pre-wired? I think the part number for the plug is 86190-53010, but I can't find anything about getting that to the headunit. Any info would be great. Thanks.

You'll need an interface from either PAC audio, PIE, Peripheral Electronics, or VAIS tech....

dai_lo, I looked around and I don't believe this mod has been attempted. All I found was some frustrated Prius owners who tried to retro a sienna aux into their electron-mobiles with no luck. As for wiring, I do not believe pre '06 4runners are pre-wired, my '05 is not.
Since the aftermarket suppliers units provide better functionality, such as charging, steering wheel control better sound quality, and text display, for around the same cost as the factory parts. I do not see this as a mod worth doing.
thanks rook. that's what i suspected. i have the factory xm running on a 07 jbl headunit. thus my problem. I know vais has a dual interface, but it only works with the terk xm, not the factory version. I'm trying to get aux in for my ipod, but i can't seem to find an aux in that works with the factory xm. i guess more research needs to be done.

XM is no longer a problem.
PIE released a part to allow you to keep your factory XM and add the aux input. You need the brain which is universal... The X3... and you'll want the vehicle specific harness X3-TOY03. Parts total will run you about $80.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. This is great news. I was reading about it, it has potential. So I need the X-3, the toyota specific harness, and do I also need the "Y" adapter (P.I.E. TOY03-F/MM Toyota "Y" Harness). It seems the "y" is necessary for 03+ 4Runners. I don't completely understand it.

No I don't have it. I'm a PIE dealer and haven't really recieved any info on it. From what it looks like you have a little control with 3 buttons that allows you to select between AUX 1, 2, and 3... I'm assuming that if you have CD changer or Xm or both that they occupy 1 and 2 and allow 3 for your personal device.
