Additional backup lights.

I am thinking about adding additional backup lights (under rear bumper). I have done that on my 3-rd generation 4Runner and loved it. It helped me a lot of times on hunting trips and when I was puling trailer and had to backup. Anyway, does anyone know if backup lights connector on standard trailer plug of the 4Runner is capable of running 2 x55 Watt lights? I do not have wiring diagram and couldn’t find any info showing relay or/and fuse that supplying power to that connector.

go to walmart in the auto dept. they have these for 19 bucks and they install in about 30 minutes. the brand is Optronics.

or i guess you could just buy one of those lame 4pin lights from home depot.

Thanks for reply. Wal-Mart lights were one of the options I was looking at. Did you wire them to trailer connector backup wire? If yes, did you have a chance to check if that circuit has a relay and is capable of supplying ~ 10 AMP (2x55 watt lights) current?

I actually installed a switch to the right of the steering wheel where the blanks are. it comes with a red one. ran it through my blue sea block. it works very very well. I actually use it when it's dark and i cannot see backing up or when pulling a trailer or my dirtbike as i drive just to take a quick peep and see how things are. there is plenty of wiring. i'll post up some photos here in a bit.
