We all made the trip back home without any issues and my new tire should be here in the next day or two. The park was cool but not very well labeled so it was a little hard to find your way around. But otherwise we had a good time.

what happened with the tire? Was it the photo showing the tire pinched against the rock that caused the rip? Looks like reallllly low PSI!

When we first hit the trails I was running 8PSI (the pic of the tire folded over was with 8PSI). I didn't like how much they were giving so I jumped up to 11PSI and they were holding up much better. I think I just caught a sharp edge coming down a ledge on the last trail that punctured the tire. Didn't realize it had happened until I started to air up to go home.
 
That looks like a lot of fun, trails look similar to Hot Springs, is it the same kind of sharp jagged rock there? It looks like those trails will also get better and better with more traffic on them, wet leaves dont make the best surface for traction. What kind of setup is Steven running? Last i saw mention of him in here he was cutting off his IFS to start his own SAS, guy looks like he must push it hard on the trail.

The trails are actually fairly different from hot springs. Hot springs trails are stacked closer, lots of loose rock, and in general just more prominent rom being wheeled regularly. Rush springs just hasn't been around too long. Has good potential but it's just not up to scale yet.

Stevens rig has been SAS'd for a while now and still holding up. He actually bought it rolled over so it was a little beat up when he bought it. Here is his build.

I lost my speedo/odo after the full float rear. You should already have a usable speed sensor on your transmission. Run it thru a speed calibration device, which will also adjust for your 37's. No additional sensors required.

Alright I finally got my SGI-5C from dikota digital and took a look at the wiring diagram for my 4runner in comparison to yours and the VSS plug has the same wiring coming from it that yours did and my ABS,VS,TRAC box had the same gray/blue strip wire that yours did. So I followed your install and for some reason I'm still not getting anything to work. Any suggestions of what I might be doing wrong? I'm getting a steady green light on the SGI-5C but according to that light it means I'm getting power to the unit but no signal. Any help would be appreciated.
 
Forgot to add when I extended my rear bump stops I shortened my rear shock mounts. With the FJ80 springs the shocks were too short and limiting travel so I chopped the lower mount down to increase ground clearance and keep the shock from limiting flex.

Been thinking about doing the lower shock mod myself, did you mount the shock and tack the lower mount to make sure you got the angle correct? Functional change that helps i would say, i have destroyed my shock washers hanging down so low.

Yeah I did the best I could by myself. They ended a little off but oh we'll hope to change this setup a little later down the road anyway. And I know what you mean about destroying your shock washer that's why I stole this idea from [MENTION=67615]Dirtco[/MENTION] and so far it's held up great.

Sorry. I think I suck at write-ups, as [MENTION=8883]LINY4Runner[/MENTION] had a hard time with this too.
I will post a few things here and will also PM you some more info and my cell number.

The wire from the transmission is yellow with orange and goes to the ECM plug closest to the drivers side. You want to tap into this wire NOT interrupt it. Your tap wire can then go to the "input". Do not mess with the other sensor wire, or use "sensor ground" on the box. The sensor is already grounded at the ECM.


Sounds like you have power and ground if you have the green light. You are correct. Green light should be flashing with input signal while moving.
The signal wire to the speedometer is grey with a blue stripe. Careful, because there is also blue with a grey stripe.
The grey with blue stripe is your wire. This wire you WILL interrupt. Cut it before it enters the ABS ECU, and run it to "out 5". The other end will be a small pigtail hanging out of the ABS ECU. Tape it off.

You mind explaining this for me... I'd love to do this mod.

1) So you're still using the stock upper shock mounts?

2) where'd you get the bottom bracket to mount to the axle.

3) Did you chop the old mounts off?

2) I simply cut the old brackets off the axle then shortened them up and re-welded them back in place.

3) Yes. I just cut them off at the base, cut them down, and welded back in place.

When doing this make sure you attach the shock to the mount and hold it in place on the axle to confirm proper angle of the mount before welding it to the axle.

Perfect, I just learned how to weld 4 months ago and I'm anxious to weld on the 4Runner.

One of the most useful skills I ever learned was how to weld. It's saved me a lot of money over the years and has come in handy far more times than I can count. Only two things I would suggest are to 1) Disconnect your battery when welding on your 4runner to help protect your computers & 2) When welding on your axles do your best to keep them from getting too hot anywhere near your seals and bearing. This might be stuff you already knew but if it's not hopefully it'll help keep you from making any costly mistakes.
 
Big thanks to [MENTION=90485]URBAN ASSAULT[/MENTION] for his write up and PM on how to get my speedometer back in working condition. I had a little trouble getting this to work but it turned out the wire tap I used on the red/yellow wire never cut through to the copper so I wasn't sending a signal to the box. Got that fixed and now everything is working perfect.
 
Not much to update. I took some time to fine tune the dikota digita and it's now the speedo is spot on with my GPS. And my new tire came in so I got that replaced.

I also helped my buddy get his new beadlocks and 37" BFG Reds mounted up (the look sick) And played around a little. Hopefully making another day run soon.

Just wanted to toss this picture in to show ride height now that I've been driving everyday for a while. I couldn't be happier with the overall height.

Hows the difference between the front and rear gear ratios? And binding or anything? I've read that 10% difference isn't a big deal and I think Ford used to use slightly different gear ratios for the front and rear for some weird reason.

What's your plans for the rear? Sorry for the interrogation. I've been trying to plan out my SAS and the HP44 is certainly an option.

The differences are not an issue. I did a lot of research and even called marlin who confirmed that 5.38's front and 5.29's rear would be no issue.

I'm still tossing around idea's on what I want to do with the rear. I'm tempted to do the full float conversion and build new (beefier & longer) upper and lower links. This would be fairly easy, I know it works well, and I think it would hold up to the 37's just fine. My other thoughts have been a full float 9" rear converted to 6 lug, a ruff stuff rear, or diamond rear and I would probably run the same coils I am now with a custom 3link with trac bar setup. But we'll see at this point it's all just thoughts.
