Here's my latest video, comprised of footage from my trip to the desert on May 22. It's another scenic video titled "Boulders". In this one the Mavic flies at low altitude over a rugged, rocky desert area. Lots of large, jumbled boulders and interesting formations, lots of cholla cactus, and some yuccas.

Well, first off let me just say that I'm no expert. This is the first time I've ever bought a lift. But I studied what others had done, read a lot of the threads on lifts, etc. Also talked to the shop that would be doing the install.

I liked the fact that Kings have been around a long time and have a good reputation. The price was competitive. Supposedly Kings are easier than some of the other brands to service/repair. I was prepared to order a lift kit online and take it to the shop, but since this shop stocks Kings I was able to get a good deal, and that factored in to my decision too. (And I figured they're less likely to screw up the install if it's a brand they work with all the time.)

This just arrived today from Amazon, just in time for my upcoming Nevada/Mojave ghost town camping trip:

The jump starter comes with a nifty case:

Inside there are pockets for the jump starter and jumper cables, plus AC and car chargers, plus various cables for charging electronics:

The jump starter has two USB ports, a couple different types of outlets for electronics, a special port for the jumper cables, and a small LED flashlight on the end:

This will give me some peace of mind when I'm alone in the desert, many miles from help. If my battery ever goes dead I won't be stranded. And it also gives me another option for charging my phone, drone equipment, etc.

Here's a "trailer" showing a few highlights from my 2017 camping trip to Nevada and the Mojave desert, part of my ongoing quest to photographically document old mines, mining camps, ghost towns and other abandoned or historic places. (I've been doing this for 30 years now!) This year I had a new tool at my disposal, the Mavic Pro camera drone.

I still have a lot more video from this trip, so I'll be posting more as time allows. It takes time to edit this stuff, and I also have plenty of still photos to go through too.

Please let me know what you think of this video. Any constructive criticism would be especially appreciated.

I love finding old paved roads which require miles of dirt to access. Because then I keep expecting to find an old spooky town, some place like Salem's Lot or a "thin" area.

The Hess Ranch of central Nevada dates back to the late 1800s. The main house, made of brick, is two stories high and has sixteen rooms. Many of the other buildings are adobe:

The McCoy Mine is located in a very remote, isolated area of central Nevada. Quicksilver (mercury) was mined here as early as 1916. The last production was in 1941:
