Ruby Hill is a ghost town and mining camp in central Nevada. There are ruins here dating back to the 1860s. Most of the video features the Fad Shaft, a large complex that was built in the 1940s:

The Belmont Mine is located high on a mountainside in the Hamilton mining district of central Nevada. Ore from this mine was transported via aerial tram to the mill, three miles away at the bottom of the canyon:

This one features the Ely Valley Mine of eastern Nevada. Production began here in 1926, and the original mine shaft and wooden headframe are still in place. Nearby is a somewhat newer shaft with a large steel headframe. There are several buildings as well:

Belmont is a famous ghost town in central Nevada (and not to be confused with the Belmont Mine/Mill). This video features the ruins at the east end of Belmont. Most prominent of these is the huge brick chimney of the Combination Mill, built in 1868. There is also the remains of a mill built in 1915 using bricks from the Combination Mill, as well as several stone cabins:

The tiny mining town of Silver Peak, NV sits at the edge of a vast dry lake in Clayton Valley. Lithium is mined here by pumping groundwater from beneath the lakebed and evaporating it in large, shallow pods called vats. It makes a very striking and colorful scene when viewed from the air:

Mill Site Well is in eastern California near the Nevada state line. A small corral, a lonely windmill, a few cattle, and a huge expanse of open prairie make it look like a scene from an earlier time:

The Crater Sulfur Mine, CA -- This area has the largest deposit of sulfur west of the Mississippi River. Mining ended here in 1953 when a sulfur dust explosion destroyed the mill:

I love 'em! It was a definite improvement off-road. On the road, it was super-smooth, so much that I would sometimes glance at the speedometer and discover I was going a lot faster than I'd thought.
