Advice for 1999 4Runner 4x4 5 Speed with e-locker

I found a 1999 4runner 4x4 5 speed with e-locker. It's the one without the sunroof and leather. it has approx. 145,000 miles and 1 owner. The owner says it's been serviced every 3 months and everything is in good condition no rust or anything.

He wants around $7600 is this a good deal? Is there anything I should look out for while test driving/inspecting?

That one is worth what you will pay. '99's had the highest stock height, it is MANual w/elocker, and 145,000 is a drop in the bucket. I say its a good deal. I got my '99 for 6800.00 and just recently looked at a '99 MANual for 8,000. However mine had 112,000 and the other I just looked at has around 100,000.

Make sure he has had the timing belt changed or knock 1000.00 off right away (a shop will charge around that for that to be done)

Mine was in Missouri the 1st 6 years of it's life and had little to no rust. Of course this one now has 12 years in that environment so who knows. definitely crawl under that bad boy with a light and look good.
 
make sure the locker works... being from midwest/back east and the salt ect the locker might be corroded and not working, so check it to make sure it works in a gravel parking lot or something. you dont want to pay for the locker if it dont work...
 
The non-sunroof models have a lot more headroom. That might matter more to you if you're tall. I like not having a sunroof personally, but for some, not having one would be a deal-breaker.
 
ask him to show all the paper work for tune up and stuff. if so see if you can get it for under 7, i love my sunroof i dont think i can live with out it
 
The sunroof is going to be tough to give up. It's also the model without the fender flares. Anyone know much about it? Other than the sunroof, it's got everything else and in nice condition.
 
I think I'm going to check it out today. After reading about other's experiences adding aftermarket sunroofs I think it'll be worth the condition/price. Plus the leather seats are pretty cool too. If I had a little more patience I might wait around for a green one to pop up, but I'm starting to like this one more and more.

I have an aftermarket sunroof, about 6 years old now, works great, better than stock I think. Dont skimp though, if you do aftermarket, pay for a good one

I love having a sunroof, but I would buy a car without one in a heartbeat, it's just not something that is that important. The fender flares by bushwhacker are like $300-$400 for the set so that is a good option.
