In the end, the combination of tiny screw driver and pliers on the hose over the nipple got the job done. The coolant hose on the IAC towards the front of the vehicle came off first, then I could twist the entire throttle body and do the same on the coolant hose nearest the fire wall.
That went well...then I went to work changing the PCV valve....WOW. Those little suckers get stuck. I can't believe how much the old grommet was like plastic. The bottom half of the old grommet snapped clean off into the small cavity below...I then had to use needle nose pliers to break it into a smaller piece to pull it through...spent a fair amount of time making sure I got all the little shreds of plastic out.
