Advice needed.......

That '98 that was posted, was it just me or was the rear tire a bit smaller than the fronts?

As was said earlier, you can't go too wrong with a 4 Runner. I would try to find one that's been taken care of by the previous owner, but that goes for any used vehicle. It's just less stuff you'd have to fix or maintain...

what model is the 99 and if you can show us some pics

not bad for 13.

Looked at the 99 and found out it has been wrecked and they didn't budge on the price.......still on the hunt.

This is killing me...... I've found a few 99's that I'm interested in one with 95k @ 12,200 and the other with 130k @ 10,900. Both are super clean, timing belts have been changed on both. The one with lesser miles is a five speed as well and they are the original owners.......
Maybe I should keep looking in hopes of a finding an awesome deal.....

Ok, Ive made up my mind. I'm going for the Tan 99 4Runner, the one with lower miles.
I'll need to buy a tow hitch as this one does not have one already, that shouldn't be too bad though. I decided to go for this one because of the miles, 5-spd, and one owner.......
Asking price is 12,200 and I was thinking about offering 11,500. Is that low balling?

if you have cash in hand it's not low balling. money talks...
a good buying trick that works great especially with dealerships is you have to act like you don't like and/or need the car. They might be less firm on the price.

id go for 10.5
go down and then work it up but dont ever go for the asking price it was before

and damn that one with 130k is clean but 10.5 for it? naw more like 8.5

I talked to the owner of the Tan runner, he sounded firm at 12k but I offered 11500. He informed me that it has locking rear difs, I guess that was an added option? He's going to have a talk with his wife and get back with me tomorrow.......

The guy with the wht runner also called and wants to deal but I doubt he'd go for less than 10k. I'm going to offer him 9,500 and see what he counters. He's been telling me that he's had a few people looking at it but thats about it.

What would you guys do if it turn out that the Wht one goes for 9500 and the Tan goes for 11500. I know thats a 2k difference but its also like 35k difference in miles per vehicle. Both are super clean too so it makes for a hard choice......so yeah what would you do in that situation?

You make it sound like TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS isn't that much money! :eek2: Must be nice to have deep pockets!!!!
Anyway......I'd go for the less expensive one and use the "measley" 2K for mods! :D

Damn, whats it LIKE?

I wasn't trying to make it sound that way, not like I have wads of cash laying around. I was just saying that its almost worth paying 2k more for less miles thats all. It doesn't matter though, turns out the guy decided to keep it anyway..........

I'm never gonna find a T4R......guess I'll spend TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS on beer-n-hookers......;):

Well today I planned on looking at a 2000 Tacoma and 99 4Runner......ended up looking at the 4Runner first.

I ended up buying the 4Runner, its a 99 with 97k, sunroof, rear diff lock, auto, has a brush guard, running boards, tires are in good shape.....basically everything I was looking for. Its Forest Green and in really good condition....asking was 13k I got out with it for 12200.

I've been holding out it seems forever and am now in the T4R family.

Thanks for all the help guys...........

I'll post pix soon.

That seems like a pretty good deal, especially considering you got the e-locker. You'll probably also have 4.30 gears, which will help if you want to upsize tires.
