Advice on rust

What's up everyone. So I made a switch from runner to Tacoma this past January but I have the itch for another runner. So I've made up my mind that I'd look for an older one so I can keep the taco too. In the past I had an 02 and 06 but The one I'm looking at currently is a 95 and I'll admit, I know nothing when it comes to the severity of RUST...attached is a photo and I'm asking you guys to be the judge...is this bad? Granted it's 20 years old, and it's been in the Bay Area its whole life, but is this pretty severe or typical?

That looks like typical surface rust, maybe a little more.
But you have no shots of the critical area, the FRAME.
But even pixels wouldn't help, you have to take a small hammer or something and start tapping all over it. The frame rusts from the inside out, so you don't see it until it's really bad.

Yea looks like typical surface rust to me aswell. Although Id stay away from it just purely because working on it is gonna be a PIA with the nuts and bolts rusted like that. I can find much nicer less rusty vehicles here. Might not be the case in your area though.

I hear ya on the working on it part. I had to at least look. 95' that the body is near flawless, as well as the interior and has 90,000 miles and one owner. I can find nicer, but not with that low of miles and in stock condition.

I may be spoiled, having a Montana rig, our humidity today is 16%, cars don't rust very badly here. That looks a lot worse than my 30 year old rig. Mine has what I would call Surface rust, meaning, it brushes right off and doesn't have any pitting. I brushed, and sanded mine and it's nice solid steel......personally, I wouldn't touch that with a 10 ft. pole. Being an Oceanside rig, that stuff is only going to keep getting worse.

I agree. Might have to look outside your area. 90k on a 20 year old vehicle would worry me a little too. Good luck in finding a nice one.
