Advice on tires

Hey guys, I just blew a sidewall on my 7yr old Yokohama Geolanders and I really need some new tires. I purchased some stock 16in rims from a toyota tundra and I was wondering what a good size would be to fit on there, and what the best tire for desert off roading would be. The experts should know! Thanks

oh and this is for 4wd with maybe off roading once a week.

Picked up some BFG TA/KO2's

absolutely love these tires, they are awesome, Ive got 265/75 on 16's and they're solid, winter rated too.

Those are the exact ones I was planning to get. Have you had them in very much snow yet? They look great in most reviews but I've read a couple mixed reviews about snow.
 
X2 on the KO2s These tires look great and with the E rating I don't think you'll be blowing out any sidewalls.

I would look at the Grabber red letter tires, great desert tire.
 
I have duratracs on my 2010 Tacoma and love them they are tough and lots of grip. They are a slight noisy on the highway but I don't mind it.
 
Get Cooper Discoverer AT3 (NOT the ATP). My friend installed a set a week before he went to North Lake Tahoe in his 5th Gen 4Runner 2WD! He said wheels did not spin and handled the heavy snow fall while he was there.

Just curious why the at3 and not the atp?
 
Any reason the geolanders blew out? to be avoided? I just got a set of Geo AT-S that were stored 4 years (man.Sept, 2011), but otherwise new and good condition rubber. $300, came mounted on set of immaculate 5 spoke (yr2000) rims for my '98 LTD, haven't swapped them yet. The Fuzion SUV tires it came with have scared me so far in my snowy local.
 
If you're spending most of your time on pavement, I'll throw in the Michelin LTX series. Got a set that have 75% tread left on my recent 4R purchase. High mileage rating, pretty decent dirt and gravel driveway grip, quiet and smooth for DD. Not your typical off-road tire, I know but for my uses they are perfect.

Now, back to the gnarly selections...
 
If you look at the AT3 thread pattern, you'll find water evacuation ditch is continuous on the surface of the tire. ATP don't have this continuous grove. So in my theory, in a heavy rain or over a puddle, the water will be thrown into the ditch and the rubber will continue to hit the road (not MUCH water).
 
Thanks for all the support guys, right now my goal is t pick up some general grabber red labels or some duratracs. The kevlar tires are tempting but the price tag is not. Thanks!
 
a little more aggressive but I run the bfg km2's. I have had these on 2 4runners and they get it on!
