Advice Wanted:fuel pump replacement

Ok, thanks. My buddy Aaron doesn't have any obvious wiring issues so the search for the culprit continues.
Harness short is high probability. Hot and cold expands and contracts metal. And if he did have a spare front 02 sensor try swapping it out for a test, cause that circuit will pop the EFI fuse. Also could be a wire in the front 02 harness with friction wear thru. Inspect those wires good. Also can try as a process of elimination disconnect the front 02 sensor, will code but run ok. So at least eliminating that part of the circuit.

When we were on a Death Valley trip and this problem arose, we tried to eliminate possibilities and I'm pretty sure the O2 sensors were disconnected and the fuse kept on popping. We did the same with the MAF sensor. But, what wasn't disconnected was the fuel pump. I suggested to Aaron the next time it happens that he put a new fuse in and see if the fuse pops immediately when he turns the ignition key on. If it does, I told him to pull the plug to the fuel pump and then try again. If it no longer blows the fuse, that would point to the fuel pump as the culprit. But, I will suggest to him that he carefully inspect all the wiring that runs on that EFI circuit for any obvious problems.

I’ve ordered the Denso pump with strainer and gasket.
My rig takes a few cranks to start if it’s sat a few hours. I’ve also noticed that it idles rougher when the tank is below 1/4 tank.
My fuel gauge is also really slow to read.
Not sure when I’ll get to it, but I plan to replace the pump and strainer, clean the sender contacts, and refresh all the associated grounds.

I suspect my pump is tired and producing less pressure than it should.
