Recently bought a 92 4wd. It has some minor mechanical niggles. But I'm pleased as it's a 5 speed, rust free, 3.4l clean truck. In Mn rust free is a search far far away.
Anyway the front diff is connected directly to vacuum so it must be engaged all the time. It works fine when I drop the 4high and low in and the 4wd light lights up. I haven't studied up on the add yet as to it's complete operation but if my understanding is correct it locks the axles together Thereby putting the driveshaft into the picture then waiting for the transfer case to engage the front shaft. There is no wiring going to the front diff sw so someone must have jumpered or disconnected the switch depending on its operation. Without doing so i wouldnot get a 4wd light on the dash.
Basically is it worth buying or making the wire buying the solenoid and installing them or just run her as is. Has anyone noticed how many mpg difference there may be? Just trying to decide if I bother or leave as is since it works.
If my info is incorrect enlighten me please.
