After a week of missing it

Drove to Colorado from California for thanksgiving, just got back today. Hoped in the 4runner as soon as I got home and it fired right up. After driving around for about 30 minutes I realized how much I missed the simple car.

They each have their own uses; for just driving around, I like my '04 F150. Yes, it's a Ford; but it's also got 145K with no problems (still) and a nice sound system...and the 4.6L V8 gets 19 to 20 MPG.

But for shuttling the family around, and for better overall quality, I much prefer the 4Runner. As good as my F150 has been to me, I'll probably be getting a Tundra as my next truck, unless the newer Tundras just totally tank themselves in quality.

Not to take anything away from the 4runner, but almost every time I take road trip, I hop in the other vehicle when I got home (and need to go somewhere) just for a change of pace.

I get that feeling every week. I have a company vehicle that I drive M-F and only, really, get to drive the T4R on the weekends. So every Saturday, I get to feel that "I missed you" feeling.
And, I wouldn't say 4Runners are bad for road trips, we usually average about 23mpg with mostly highway driving. Not as good as 25, but close enough:wink2:

Wellll I will be the jerk.

You shouldn't claim your parents cars as your own. Unless you're on bimmerforums, then it's cool.

On another note, whenever I drive my wifes car, I am verrrryyyy happy to hop into my 4Runner. Her car may get much better gas mileage, but I much prefer the 4Runner for road trips. I feel more secure... I don't know, it's my baby.

I put around 1000 miles a month on my 4runner going back and forth to work but on weekends we tend to take my wife's 2007 Honda Civic everywhere. I love the 30+ mpg it gets. Still it's a good feeling getting back in my 4runner.
