After lift banging noise

So I just installed a 3" lift from toytec and everytime I hit a small bump.. Or pot hole.. Something like that I'll just a loud banging noise and I can even feel it in the cabin.. Did I do something wrong with the install of the lift!? Or do the springs need to settle!? Any ideas people!? Thanks!!

check your rear shocks that they are tight on the top mount

check your 4 sway bar links

check your upper bolts on the front shock mounts that they are are tight.

Okay thank you. I think it's my rear shock mounts because those were a bi*** to tighten and I couldn't get them all the way snug

Yeah after you out some miles on them you will squish the bushings together. Go back and tighten them. You got this

If you want some advice, don't try to tighten them from underneath the truck. Instead, crouch next to the fender and reach your arm around the frame. It worked great for me!

I did that last time just didn't get them tightened all the way.. I'll tighten them and see if that fixes the noise.. On another note.. My steering is real loose and everytime I hit a bump the car shakes and acts weird. Is that due to alignment after the lift? Or another issue I need to fix?

You need an alignment asap. Lifting it changes the angles in the front and needs to be corrected.

When I lifted mine about the same amount, felt like the steering was floating or detached in a way on my way to get it aligned.

You don't have to get new tires to get an alignment. Changing tires doesn't affect it.

Well I'm getting 3 inch taller tires.. Wouldn't that change the alignment in any way? Also thanks for all the replies.. You guys are great

Yes, if you don't care about your current tires (they will wear faster with a bad alignment) then just wait for the new tires then get an alignment.

Or get the unlimited alignments or whatever for like $30 more.

I don't see how the size of the tire would affect the alignment. Unless you're thinking about tire ballance, or you just want to get everything done at the same time.

Im still searching for mine, tightened rear shocks and replace all sway bar links. I will tear this truck apart to find that noise...:vader:

Hahah good luck man.. I had a friend bounce the car up and down to find out the noise when my old shock mount was broke... Try imitating the motion and get in a spot where you can see the noise

Nate's truck only does it in an angle, like going up and down a driveway in an angle with a dip or bump.:nod:
