After lift issues...

So I've lifted my truck, replaced the c v s and then had to do seals cause it started leaking gear oil in the front. I replaced them both, put it back together drove 10 miles no leaks drove it home 50 miles..now its leaking. I firmly tapped the seal in am not sure where I went wrong. Any advice, could I have over tapped them in? I was careful and made sure to not over tap either it does appear one side is sealed..possible defective? I replaced it with Toyota parts from the dealership not some back yard hoopie lol. Thanks in advance

are you sure you CVs are all the way in to the diff?

Pretty sure, if they weren't would i be able to engage 4wd etc?

not necessarily... crawl under and check the gap between the edge of the diff and housing and the edge of your axles where they neck out/up... how big of a gap do you have there?

you are suppose to pound the cvs in not push them in take some force to do it so if you didnt do that it will leak

yeup he is right... well maybe you should just bring your rig buy sometime when im home, i got me a few hammers, we can make sure they are all the way in...

I think you mis-understood. I pushed/tapped the seals in not the cv's...the cv's got hammered in..

maybe we need to call my cousin Vinnie over and have him give us a hand...

What others have said re: the hammer. My right side went in with a couple of solid taps, but the left side was a *****; both in removing the axle and hammering it in. No leaks here.

Yeah ill re check the side that's leaking and replace the seal..hopefully that will solve the problem thanks

I've had the same issue after installing reman cv's. Check this link for the discussion.

I replaced the seal with a dealership supplied seal several times until I got it right. There is no stop within the diff tube for teh seal to "bottom out" on. There is an inner lip within the diff tube that the outer edge of the new seal should sit flush with.
