After market stereos for 2003 sport edition?

I'm looking at putting a new stereo in my 4runner, but I have a few questions about it.

Is the installation process relatively easy if I buy a stereo with the wiring harnesses? and how difficult would it be to wire a usb port and aux port into the center compartment?

More importantly, will the steering wheel controls work with a new stereo?

Also, if you've added an after market stereo i'd love to see how it looks so I can know how certain styles look in the car.

This is one i've been looking at, but i'm not sure Pioneer FH-X700BT CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

yes, you can do all of that. you the search to find pictures. screen-based double-DINs look best.

Crutchfield is a good source for research, I know these are from my 02 sport, But it gives you something to look at. Touch screens i like yes. I have the port for my I-phone and zip drive in the glove box.

I've been looking at that one and the JVC-KW-R910BT. Same price, similar look. Seems like a good fit to cover all my needs.

I've been eyeing up the same one. Do you still have your factory speakers? If so, how does everything work and sound? I'm not an audio guy so I'm worried that with so many speakers they'll either not all work or be under powered.

They work great with my factory speakers. My speakers are in great shape considering the age, so ymmv. I'm sure upgraded speakers would sound better though...as you can expect.

Yes and yes, it's nice, I have it in my center console so I can plug what I need in there and keep it out of the way.

Assuming you have the JBL sound sytem, replace the Head Unit and the factory amp. When I replaced just the Head Unit the sound was not much better than it was with the original, but replacing the amp a year later made all the difference in the world. Still using factory speakers which will probably get replaced next year.

Rockford fosgate R600X5 5 Channel amp. I paid $775 installed which included the wiring harness and professional installation at a local Car Audio specialist. I probably paid more than I should have, but I like the fact that they do good work and stand behind their work. I had the same place install the Kenwood Head Unit last year.
