First I would like to thank every member of this board that created or posted in any thread that I read. The information I learned here over the last few months has been so invaluable. After scouring Craigslist almost every day since June (I eventually made bookmarks on my bookmarks bar so I didn't actually have to type "2003 4runner 4wd 4x4" and click "include nearby areas" every single time for every year '03-'07), I finally found one in my price and year range.
I was more interested in the 5spd transmission, so whether I found a V6 or V8 didn't matter to me, and I found a 2006 Sport 4WD in Galactic Gray Mica with 137K miles for $11K. The guy was one of the absolute worst communicators I'd dealt with in the time searching. He was pretty good the first day, then his emails and texts just got fewer and further between and less and less words... it was like pulling teeth to go see this truck that was 50 miles away.
I sold my truck (a very trusty '09 Crew Cab 6spd V6 2WD Frontier [gonna miss that manual]) this past Saturday in a bit of a rush, and took $200 less than my bottom line just because I wanted to fuxking sell it so I could go get my Runner.
Headed to LA to check it out, and it unfortunately had quite a few more dings and scratches than I thought, and was missing an entire rear wheel flare. The tires were old as hell, one was different than the other three, there was no rear wiper blade and the front ones were completely shot. Like shoestrings hanging off. The muffler bracket was broken so the tailpipe is just dangling, and there was one brand new headlight.
The interior looks great (love the black in the Sports) and it runs great. 4WD and the diff lock engaged perfectly and the V6 has plenty of power! It was dealer-serviced regularly so the motor is in great shape, it's just the body that needs some TLC. Needs to be clay-barred and really detailed. I can't wait to get it looking better on the outside. I'm a little bummed on some of that other sh*t, but he knocked off $800 because of all that.
So I finally feel like part of the 4th gen family! Now to scour the for sale / classified forums and start slowly "modding" this thing! Tires first, maybe wheels... Rola rack...
I'm in Costa Mesa if anyone else around here is. This is my first 4WD vehicle so i need someone to show me the ropes.

Need to get that dealer emblem off. I hate those things!
