Aftermarket brake rotors for 02 3.4L V6?

Has anyone used aftermarket brake rotors?
Any brand recommendations?
OEM rotors are quite expensive and they are priced at around $100 per rotor.
I am definitely using OEM brake pads though.

I installed standard NAPA rotors and experienced warping in less than a year - returned under warranty. I then installed Brembo rotors - pricey but they have performed well to date....about 9 months so far. I have heard that Carquest rotors are better quality than the standard NAPA rotors and would give them a try in the future.

There is a difference in rotors. The total thickness of the rotor is the same between brands but the thickness of the steel vs the thickness of the vented air space can be different. Cheaper rotors have more air, less steel. Grade of steel can be different as well. T4R rotors are undersized to begin with - recommend buying high quality. May be more important on T4R's than other applications.

I have the EBC sport rotors and they are performing excellent. I replaced them because the stock rotors were warped. I have had the EBC rotors along with the green stuff pads on for 3 yrs now and happy with them. I would recommend this setup, and not to go with OEM.

AutoZone sells duralast rotors with a 2 year warranty. I plan to pick some up soon.

If you have at least 17" wheels you can replace the brake calipers, rotors, and pads with some from a 2006 toyota tundra, its a directly bolt on application. You just need some pre-loaded calipers, and install them. You dont need a new master cylinder or anything else, and those brakes will not warp under any amount of use because they are much larger than the undersized brakes on the 4runner.

I think you mean 16" wheels, right? I have the stock 16" "five star" wheels and the 231mm Tundra Calipers fit just fine. Just had the trim the dust shield a little bit (not a big deal).

At any rate, OP, I would definitely suggest you look into the Toyota Tundra brakes upgrade. Prices will vary, but if I recall, I spent right around $300 at AutoZone. This included Tundra rotors, calipers, and Duralast Gold brake pads. This truck stops effortlessly now, which is good because I go up and down a few mountains and the stock brakes just weren't up to the task. Tundra rotors are also alot thicker and are much harder to warp than the stock 4Runner rotors.

I am actually not looking into any caliper upgrades or high performance rotors. I just need a good set of rotors that does the job equal to OEM specs.
Any other suggestions?

Pricing oem rotors from your local dealer might be $$$$

Have you tried camelback toyota?
They have pretty good prices when you do the on-line purchase, if you call they will be about the same as local dealer. They have prices better then wholesale at my local dealer, didn't even come close, plus shipping is free if you order over 100 I think or close to that.

Around 60 dollars per side not bad just checked.

Im thinking about going with these (EBC® - USR BlackDash Series Sport Slotted 1-Piece Front Brake Rotors Link to CarId), as I believe that they are mentioned above. My current rotors warped in about 6 months ($70 Napa Rotors, I should have known better...). These are pretty pricey, but there are no reviews. Wondering if anyone is running these and how they perform?

"Warped" rotors is generally caused by uneven pad deposits on the rotors, not actual warping.

What pads are you running? That might be a better place to start...

Or you could buy OEM Toyota rotors for $55 each: Front Brakes for 2002 Toyota 4Runner | Toyota Parts.

I really don't know why people go aftermarket when Toyota rotors are so cheap.

Make certain you rear brake adjusters and bell cranks are lubed and functioning, and the rear brakes are adjusted properly. Asking the fronts to do all the work will cause a little extra heat.

My impression is that the OEM rotors were prone to warp as well. I forget exactly, but I think I did OEM rotors a few years ago that lasted a while, but still felt like they warped quicker than they should have.
