Aftermarket bumpers

I'm looking to build my own front bumper but need a little help to keep it from looking too goofy. I don't want it to stick out too far but far enough to fit a winch one day. I've looked at a few winches and see the ones I'm considering for purchase are 6.5"s deep. I don't think I want it to stick out 6.5"s as that would probably be too far but without having something to compare it to I don't know.

This brings me to this question.

How far does your aftermarket bumper stick out past the center of your stock grill?

Cut the end caps off the front of the frame and weld on new ones. I will throw a picture in here later of what I am talking about.

If you're talking about those little crush cans or whatever they're called, I did that today and ground the welds down. Then I threw my OEM bumper back on because I had to go get the kids and didn't want to ride with no blinkers.

Still show me because I wasn't planning on capping the frame. Is that what you mean?

I completely removed that part you have welded back on there. They are destroyed per my BFH now.

I just measured mine and it's 6 inches from the grille to the furthest point out on the tube.

Thanks, that gives me a good reference. So I'll try to make mine fall somewhere in that range.
