I'm about to pull the trigger on an 86 4runner 4x4 with a 22re. The motor was recently rebuilt and the former owner installed an aftermarket cam. The motor ticks like most 22re's. I want to at least check the valve clearance, problem is, I have no idea what the specs should be. The guy does not have any paperwork on the cam and does not know the make/model. He simply knows that it was aftermarket and gave him a bit more power. What do I do? How do I check/adjust valve clearance if I don't know what the numbers should be?
