Aftermarket fogs on factory switch?

I searched around but didn't find anything. Does anyone know if you can run aftermarket fog lights (morimoto, BD squadron sport, rigid D-series, etc) off the factory wiring and switch on the blinker stalk?

I know there are lots of cool switches available but keeping clutter down inside would be far better to me.

Yes, it's super easy.

Even if you wanted to run a ton of lighting which far exceeds the power handling capability of the factory wiring, you can use the existing factory wiring to control larger relays.

I do this regularly because I like to keep the insides clean and factory looking when I can.

A good starting point is to look at the max current rating on the new lights and see if the factory wiring can handle it. If not, add a relay to the mix and tap the power for relay control at the point of connection for the fogs.

When I installed my remote start I was very impressed with the heavy gauge wiring they used throughout the 4R. I really think they planned and design this truck around people customizing it.

I don’t know about all that… I do a ton of aftermarket vehicle wiring and I have never considered wiring to be generous or oversized for the application. If anything in most areas I think it’s pretty thin but always sized within an acceptable voltage drop, that said I think the voltage drop is on the high side of what is typically acceptable IMO for most aftermarket wiring. Most of us tend of oversize too much in custom installs as well.

These OEMs never make circuit wiring larger than they need to for their factory loads. All it does is increase cost on their end which is something they almost always value engineer.

Baja Designs has a kit to install their squadrons in the stock location and use the stock turn signal switch. Its just a quick harness and plug and play.

I myself am running it with zero issues. The BD lights pull less amps then the factory since they are LED. I then did the always available fog light mod and still have zero issues.
