I posted earlier looking for recommendations on a good head unit replacement. I've pretty well settled on the JVC KW-XR810 - it looks like a very nice unit if you don't want NAV or DVD (and I don't).
Anyhow I have been thinking of adding the bluetooth buttons to my steering wheel. I've been digging on these forums and these part numbers posted all over:
84244-35030-B0
84204-58010
My first question is whether they glow Orange or Green.. I've seen reports of both. My dash is orange.
Next, if am understanding things, all I would need is these two parts and everything should be carried over to the back of the head unit?
Next, how hard is it to install this in the steering wheel? Setting off the airbag isn't a big concern is it?
In addition - if I were to purchase these two buttons - I would also need to get the PAC SWI-RC instead of the (much) more common and cheaper SWI-JACK.
When installing the SWI-* - does it connect to the existing harness or do I need to cut it off and splice them myself?
That would essentially tack on another $150 onto this project. Is it worth it?
Last question is on the 2004 wiring - does it already have the wires near the sunglasses holder for a microphone? If so, is it possible to patch an aftermarket stereo into this? An alternative is to run the microphone wire myself to the A-Pillar but I haven't seen much as far as easiest ways to do this.
Sorry for the umpteen questions in this posting. Mostly wanting to get the best for this upgrade.
