Aftermarket stereo..... Can I retain factory back-up camera??

Hey guys...I'm still thinking about switching out my factory navi unit for a Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX unit and was wondering if its possible to keep my factory back-up camera? Just trying to save some effort running new wires if possible. I did some reading on here and apparently there are some voltage differences. The Pioneer uses RCA cables for the back-up camera and I think the factory back-up camera has pins within the 24-pin harness??

I haven't done it, but I believe the factory back up camera will work fine with an aftermarket head unit provided you wire up a connector to plug it in. I haven't heard anything about voltage differences between the systems, can you elaborate? I thought the factory camera spits out a standard analog video signal (NTSC, PAL, something like that)...

Check out here for what pins/wires on which connectors go to the factory camera, but I think all you'd need to do is cut the factory connector, provide power/ground to the camera, solder on an RCA connector for video signal, and plug it into the new head unit.

It can be done, however, the stock camera operates on 6v not 12v. So you would need an 6v dc adapter to power the camera. Then splice an rca for the video to the 4 pin black connector behind stereo and plug the rca into the aftermarket in dash. Black, pin 1 video +, Red, pin 2 camera 6v+, White pin 3 camera ground, pin 4, video -. Also, the reverse wire (red/yellow) needs to be hooked up to the new in dash to activate the back up display.
