Aftermarket Navigation System

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has installed an Ottonavi in their 03 Toyota 4runner with JBL synthesis? I'm trying to find the best aftermarket navigation system that is compatible to my truck. Basically a plug and go type and don't have to splice the wires. I don't mind buying the harness adapter. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Never heard of that brand, but being the UK, I'm sure there are brands that we don't see here, state-side. Regarding splicing into wires, that will be inevitable b/c GPS systems usually need the VSS (vehicle Speed Sensor), Reverse Signal (tells the GPS you are in reverse, not sure how that helps it.....) and Parking Brake Signal (also, helps in navigation, mostly the NAV confirming that you are stopped and allows some functions to work........ not all NAVs are the same..... ). These signals have nothing to do with radio functions so they are NOT in a wire harness that plug in, UNLESS your vehicle came from the factory with NAV........ makes sense? Anyway, hope this helps........ With the JBL Synthetis system, you most likely will be needing wire adaptors for your install. Check out:

Depending on whether you want to keep using your stock JBL amp, Having one of those harnesses will be plug and play for the radio. For the NAV, no, b/c you will need to splice into some wires. Good luck

If you check my Sig you'll see my thread on installing a DNX6960. Basically plug and play with the right harness. The Garmin is a great GPS system and easy to find update maps. I also figured out how to switch the tuning to euro from US steps which I assume you'll need in the UK.
