Aftermarket sport hood at So Cal junkyard

I saw an aftermarket sport hood at the LKQ Anaheim yard - all metal, and looked pretty good, with a very small bent corner. Would probably need paint to be presentable.

As of 10am today, it's been there for two days, and no one seemed to have any interest it. Of course that could change at a moment's notice, I'm just the messenger.

It's damaged, it's missing the bulge and heat shield - both of which are expensive to replace...

Agreed on all counts, which is why I didn't take it. Although I did take the heat shield to replace the damaged one I got with my Toyota Sport Hood (couldn't beat the junkyard price of $5 ).

Still, you'd think that after all the talk on these boards of people willing to kill for a Sport Hood, someone would want it.

I think if it were a factory hood, you'd see more interest. But being it's aftermarket and slightly damaged, it would probably only appeal to someone local.

Agreed on all counts, which is why I didn't take it. Although I did take the heat shield to replace the damaged one I got with my Toyota Sport Hood (couldn't beat the junkyard price of $5 ).

I finally gave up trying to find a mint one in MN, they all have rust on them. getting it color matched on the 21st for $500. so my search is over.

I only grabbed this one because I wanted the insides and insulation...

Yeah, that makes sense. My mindset was that I don't care about small damages since I'm in for paint anyway (I need a white hood which was never made by Toyota). But I can see that others may want to get the full assembly and not have to pay for paint, which is often more expensive than the hood itself.

$500 for a colormatch sounds way better than the $1400 quote I got.

I saw it there on Sunday. Ultimately passed on it cause I didn't wanna deal with the bent corner.

Dude I’m so out of control right now. I also put the Doug Thorley headers on order and sent a steering wheel to Texas to be rewrapped. Yea I decided by the time I fixed the beater hood I would have been better to just get a new one.

Let’s see how the paint comes out. I like this painter he does good quality work for a reasonable price. I don’t think I can expect a perfect match for $500 but we will see.

I finally got all good knock sensors/harness into it last week and was able to put a couple of tanks thru it with the old stock intake on it. no codes.

I put the supercharger back on it last night and no knock codes so far, with the stock pulley. I will put a couple more tanks thru it and then drop down to the smaller pulley once I feel it's all good.

hopefully yea once I get the headers on it + I also put a trd pro cat back on it... it should be the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.

I'm hoping the headers will give an extra pop, I think they will based on what I have seen others claim.

They do. The power's there, but it's not a "blow your socks off" power gain like the supercharger is though. I noticed it the first time I drove mine after putting the DT headers on.

The nice little benefit is that it reduced boost pressure of the supercharger but makes more power. Don't let that deter you, it just means you can run smaller pulleys with less fuel/detonation that those with exhaust manifolds.

I think adding the supercharger was like making a 6 cylinder into a 7 cylinder... but it's still not an 8

I'm glad I did it and I'm looking forward to having headers. I think maybe I remember reading things you did or put out here so it's mostly your fault.
