Aftermarket Stereo Issues (Questions)

So I've installed my new aftermarket stereo but there's a few issues I'm having. Details about my truck below.

Story-
I've practically got this stereo for free because of all the issues I've been having. First shipment was smashed, second of DOA and the third took 4 weeks to arrive. So I've been refunded most of the money spent on it for the troubles.

Opening the box like a madman the damn harness was wrong. F-it and I manually wired it. (Was not worth driving two hours or waiting any longer) The first time manually wiring was in my old ford truck and it worked perfectly right from the start. 4runner is a different story.


First issue: Lots of white-noise/static on all channels when the system is turned on

Second: Can't use headlights with the system on. (Turning on the headlights shuts radio off, then restarts saying there is a connection error.

Third: Popping noise when system turns off/on

Forth: Left speakers, front and back don't work. (This one really bugs me)

I've re-wired it all perfectly ( I'd hope), (Did not solder, not needed)

I have a 98 4runner, Sr5.
It's all grounded to the standard ground point near stereo.

You reused the factory amp with aftermarket?

Ya, you don't use the factory amp with an aftermarket headunit. That is the reason the harness didn't match up. You needed to remove the amp, and use wht plugged into that to plug in to the harness.
The stock HU is not strong enough to power everything, but aftermarket HUs have built in amps that are more than adequate to power stock speakers.
My guess is you didn't fully connect the correct wires when installing. Take it out, take the stock amp out, and reinstall. Hopefully you saved all the parts form the aftermarket harness.

There is 2 plugs and 2 10 mm bolts that holy the stock amp in deeper into the dash.

The wires you connected to are about 8 inches long and run into the amp.
Pull the amp and you will notice the wiring harness should match up that

This is whats wrong.

1) don't use a factory amp in line with an aftermarket stereo
2) its actually not a good idea to use factory speakers with an aftermarket head unit
3) when you do get aftermarket speakers I'd advise running new 14G speaker wire (16G will work but with 14G you will be ready for the big amps)
