Does the quality of light pattern degrade if you use an aftermarket housing and a projector from the retro fit source?

Yes and no. I wouldn't use the '96-'98 housings cus they are the old design and are not so clear. But we're talking about Aftermarket here.. Projectors don't rely on the reflectors in the housings to project the light. So as long as your housings are glass and clear there shouldn't be a problem.
