Aftermarket Wheels For 2010 4Runner TE

Need opinions. How do you guys/gals think the Knight Chrome wheels would look on a Magnetic Gray TE? Or, should I just stick to standard chrome.

There isn't much out there as far as aftermarket wheels in 17" x 8" AND 4.5" of Backspace AND is Hub Centric. If you guys/gals have any other wheel suggestions, please let me know.

I would have to choose the knight chrome over the standard chrome, that's if i only had the choice of those two wheels. You may wanna give it some time and see what comes out in the next few months. Check out all the manufacturers. Guys like "Fuel" have some cool finishes, or like American Racing's bronze finish. I'm sure there will be more and more.

I may not be the best to respond either. I knew I wanted ATX Mojaves before I finalized the purchase of the rig (I had them on two former Tacos). Also, I've never been partial to any chrome. The lightest I would do is brushed aluminum like stock.

As far as looks ....That depends on what YOU like, since your paying for them and driving around in them.

Did you do a search on this subject because it's been addressed a bunch of times.

As far as buying wheels, they do not have to be hub centric as long as the hub bore is 106mm minimum.You have to watch when they say hub centric because thats misleading unless they tell you who it's hub centric for.The Chevy hub is 78.3 and Toyota 4runner/FJ hub is 106mm.Both have the same wheel pattern.

That's why it's better to get wheels from someone who specializes in wheels or sells them local. Not specialize in tires and sells wheels as an afterthought like tirerack does.For them to say it's hub centric is useless info because the rim for one is lug centric anyways and proves that they don't know what they're talking about.They should just list the hub bore of the rim.Like the theory, don't order a steak at a restaurant that specializes in seafood.

They have great prices and they were here in 3 days.Order over the phone, they know what they are talking about and will help you and they threw in the lug centric lug nuts because you will need them.Down below is the chart to figure backspacing as they list offset.
Alot of people use spacers or wider rims and don't care if there wheels stick out and it's not that big of deal. Just not what I was looking for.Also if you go over to the FJ forum and research, they have a whole section on wheels/tires.We have the same bolt pattern,hub bore and backspacing.But remember we need a minimum of a 17 wheel because we have bigger brakes.Wheels and Tires - Toyota FJ Cruiser Forum

I haven't been able to find any pics of AR bronze finish wheels for SUVs.

Since it's a TE, I would go with the Knight Chrome. If it was a Limited or SR5, I woudl recommend regular chrome to go with the rest of the chrome. Just my opinion.

I would be careful with the knight chrome. It is known to peel/flake off.

I called 4WheelParts and they told me that the correct part number for the chrome rim is as follows. They said this one is for the Toyota/Nissan. They said I may or may not have an issue with the brake caliber. They also told me that the "night chrome" rims are being discontinued.

Damn! I just learned that going with a rim that is just 1/2" wider with the bigger BFG AT 275s is going to cause rubbing. :cry2:

Can I go with a rim that has 5" of Backspacing to overcome this issue? Will that work? There has to be something in the aftermarket that will allow me to continue to run my BFG 275s and not require trimming.

you need to do research on this. it is a very complicated issue with wheels, generally if you want a wider wheel, you need a LOWER OFFSET, so it doesnt rub on inner control arms. The flip side of this however, is you can then get rubbing on the outer and inner wheels where they put cheap abs plastic when wheels are turned to limit. Can be easily shaped with heat gun or trimmed like most people do here. If you like a wheel buy one, put a tire on and test it. make sure it falls within specs of what others putting on here. for a 17 * 9 tire, one with a 0 offset or even negative offset will likely do, pushing wheel out further..but from what IVE read, a maximum backspace of 4.75'' is what can be used without rim rubbing on inside control arms. if you put a wider tire on, however, you need one with a lower offset generally speaking.

Here is another rim that I like. It has a +2mm offset and 4.517 Backspacing. Still don't know anything in the aftermarket that will work with my BFG AT 275s without trimming needed.

The 17 inch Alloys are 4.5 back spacing and +15mm offset.

I found this on the FJ Cruiser forum. Can anyone confirm or deny that the stock wheels on the TE in addition to having 4.5" of Backspacing also have +15mm of Offset?

Went to a shop that specializes in offroad vehicle customization. They told me that if I go with a 17" x 8" wheel that has 4.5" of Backspace and +10mm to +15mm of Offset that I should not run into any rubbing issues with my BFG 275s.

hey guys.. i know mention of the 4.5" back spacing on rims.. i found a set of wheels that i like but they have 0 back spacing.. what would this do? stick it out? if so.. when the suspension flex's and send the wheel up to the fender.. will it hit the fender? how do i know the max a wheel can stick out? thanks guys!
